🤔 So... why learn from me?

In 2015, I moved from Canada to Silicon Valley as a new graduate without a job, any work experience, or a work visa. I hustled hard to find my first job, attending every networking session, asking everyone I met for introductions, and applying cold to hundreds of jobs. In 5 weeks, I landed my first job which came from an initial cold email.

Unfortunately, I didn't know how to evaluate companies before I joined them and the startup went bankrupt in 4 months. I got my second job a few weeks later through a connection with my ex-boss. As my luck would have it, the CEO from that second company got fired by the board and I was jobless again within 5 weeks.

Starting my third job hunt within 8 months of graduation was hard. To most companies, 3-4 months of work experience was the same as no work experience and I face rejection after rejection through each job search period. For my third job, I joined Wish, the most downloaded shopping app in the world at that time, and quickly got promoted to Manager. 2 years later, I was getting offers at 3x my starting salary at companies like Google and Facebook. I was also interviewing and hiring for my own team, seeing the job search process from the other side.
